In this quick guide, I’ll show you how to install FL Studio on your computer and properly authenticate it with your registered Image-Line account.
Step 1: Downloading FL Studio
Before you can install FL Studio on your computer, you’ve to download the installation file from Image-Line’s website.
Go to the image-line FL Studio download page and download the latest version of FL Studio for your computer’s operating system.

Step 2: Installing FL Studio
Once the setup file is downloaded, open it. If you have administrative control over the PC, right-click on the file and choose the option “Run as administrator.”

This ensures you have all the required permissions over the installation process, and no popup messages will show asking for your permission so that the installation happens smoothly.
Step 3: Follow the Instructions Shown on the Installer
Once the installer is open, read the instructions shown on the screen and click “Next.”

You’ll be asked to select the installation folder, user, VST folder, etc.
If you have previously installed FL Studio, you might still have the settings and files data stored in the FL Studio user data folder.
In that case, you can untick the settings option to make use of previous settings. If it’s a fresh installation, you can keep it ticked.

Once the installer shows “Ready to install,” you can press the “install button,” and the installation process will begin.

Once the installation is complete, the installer will ask you to click “finish.” Click on it to close the installer.
Yay!🤗 You’ve successfully installed FL Studio on your computer. Now let’s authenticate the installation with a license.
Step 4: Authenticating FL Studio With a License
Until you authenticate FL Studio with a valid license, it’ll run in trial mode.
Only after you enter your account credentials or import the Regkey file, the FL Studio will be active.
The features you unlock after the authentication depends on the type of FL Studio edition you own.
To authenticate, launch FL Studio. Go to the “Help” menu tab and select the option “Unlock FL Studio.”

This will open up a new window where you have to type in your Image-Line account details.

Once you type in the details, click the “Unlock with account” button. This should authenticate your installation with the FL Studio license you own.
Step 5: Verify If Authentication Was Successful
To check the authentication status, restart FL Studio, go to the “Help” menu tab, and select “Unlock FL Studio.”

If the authentication is successful, the unlock window will show a message, as shown in the image below.

It’ll show “FL Studio is unlocked and registered to:” followed by your name and a unique number.
Well, now FL Studio is unlocked and loaded to make some music. 🤘Rock on!
