Before adding new themes to FL Studio, you should know some basics.
In FL Studio, themes are stored in three different locations based on how you got them.
The themes you downloaded directly from Image-Line’s servers are kept in the “Downloads” folder in the documents section.
C:\ Users\ Username\ Documents\ Image-Line\ Downloads
The default themes that came with your version of FL Studio are stored in the “Themes” folder in the location where the software is installed.
C:\ Program Files\ Image-Line\ FL Studio 21\ Artwork\ Themes
Lastly, when you create and save custom themes from the editor, they are saved under the user “Documents” folder.
C:\ Users\ Username\ Documents\ Image-Line\ FL Studio\ Settings\ Themes
I hope you now have an understanding of the different locations where FL themes are stored. If confused, go through it again, and again.
Adding New Themes to FL Studio: The Process
This technique is for anyone wanting to add new themes to FL Studio.
You may have gotten the theme from a friend or downloaded it from some online source.
Whatever it be, if you have a theme, you can add it to FL Studio by just following these steps.
Pro Tip:
When copy-pasting theme files to FL Studio save folders, always put them under the User Data folder. This way, you won’t risk losing them during software updates and can access them from different versions of FL Studio.
The easiest way to find the User Data folder of FL Studio is from the file browser interface of FL Studio.
Open FL Studio on your PC and go to the browser section. At its bottom left, you’ll find the User data folder.

Now right-click on the user data folder. This will open up some options. Then choose the Windows shell menu option.

Once you do that, you’ll see some more options. From the options choose the Open option. This will open up the user data folder through the file explorer.

You can also find this folder by going to the documents section on your PC.
Once inside the user data folder, navigate to the following location.
Documents\ Image-Line\ FL Studio\ Settings\ Themes
This will open up the themes folder.

You can copy and paste the new themes into this folder.
Make sure the files you add are FLSTHEME-type files, these files’ names end with .flstheme.
Sometimes the themes can also have wallpaper and thumbnail images bundled with them. If so, you can add those to the same folder.
Once you restart FL Studio and open the themes window, you should see the newly added themes.

From here, you can further customize and/or equip the new themes to give a unique look to the FL Studio’s user interface.
